Trust me…I’m not saying it is the most fun thing in the world galavanting all around Northern Indiana in the middle of winter. I.HATE.Winter. I’ve lived here my entire life and I finally just started wearing grown-up boots that keep my toes warm during the colder months. However, I am never one to pass up an amazing photo opportunity and sometimes you just have to be borderline unhappy for an hour to push yourself creatively, to be different, and to have rockstar pictures of yourself for the rest of your life.
If you have had your senior pictures taken already in a semi-popular area, chances are you saw another photographer walking around with a senior or family also shooting. I can tell you exactly how many people would be hanging out in mid-January–absolutely zero. Aside from us 🙂 because WE are awesome.
If you are spunky and super outgoing, winter sessions are totally your thing, even if you don’t know it. There is so much variation in what you can make out of a winter session and they are all about having fun. Yeah, it’s cold, but it is also a beautiful, calm scene that allows so much opportunity.
You CAN be Elsa…or something like that. We all know what scene I’m talking about. Whenever I think of a winter session, my mind immediately goes to a gorgeous red or emerald flowing dress. Seriously, how stunning would that be? (sorry for getting “Let it Go” stuck in your head. I’m whistling it, too…)
So, if you are a senior and have been considering the sheer awesomeness of it, DO IT. If you are a Junior wanting to stand out for your pictures and be totally unique, DO IT.
